La Muga is a restaurant located in a privileged location, between the imposing mountains of Sierra Nevada and the coast of Granada. It is mainly attended by groups that will spend the weekend in the area or make a stop on their way to the beach. Its name is born from this concept. A “muga” (cairn in english) is a pile of stones that serves to show hikers the way and works as a reference point. The restaurant itself shares these characteristics. In addition these kind of signs that are very present in the natural places that surround the restaurant, have become part of the place where they are and suppose a minimum alteration in the natural environment.

Starting from the shape of a cairn seen from a zenithal plane, the shape was simplified to create the essential symbol for the logo of the restaurant. In this way a cairn is represented as a series of concentric irregular rings that diminish in size the closer they are to the centre. This shape may remind us of the life rings of the trunk of a tree referring to the high presence of wood throughout the restaurant. This icon may also have similarities with a human fingerprint. In this way we also make reference to the coexistence between nature and people in this area.
